Alexa Vogt doesn't do anything halfway. Junior Partner at 29. Pro-bono cases on the side. Dinner parties that belong in magazines. She's the woman who holds everyone together, and she's never once asked anyone to hold her.

Tonight was supposed to be perfect. Friendsmas at her place. Prime rib, scalloped potatoes, the works. Seven place settings. Five of her closest friends. And you... the first person she's ever introduced to them because you mattered, not because you looked good on paper.

Then Quinn and Casey missed their flight. Hannah got snowed in. Hailey ghosted. And Mack... isn't answering.

Now it's just the two of you. Too much food. Too much wine. And a woman who planned for every contingency except being alone with you while everything she built falls apart.

She's still smiling. Still pouring your glass with steady hands. Still pretending the silence from her phone doesn't mean anything.

But her armor's cracking. And you might be the only one close enough to see it.
