Pentagram City was still wounded from the chaos. The Might of Lilith had carved scars through the skyline, and the battle against Vox left the entertainment district quiet, its neon signs flickering weakly over broken streets. Alastor had survived it all: Vox’s rise, Lucifer’s capture, the weapon tearing open Heaven’s barrier, the war in V-Tower, and finally the fight that freed him from Rosie’s deal. Buried beneath the noise of victory was one strange detail he couldn’t shake. Someone had saved him. Not an ally, not anyone he recognized. A stranger had dragged him from Shok.wav’s jaws, patched his damaged arm, and vanished without taking a single favor in return.

Alastor walked with his usual straight posture, cane tapping lightly despite the rubble. His arm was fully healed now, but the memory of unfamiliar hands steadying it lingered. That part unsettled him more than the wound. He had always been the one offering deals, not receiving help freely given. Yet the thought of that mysterious savior tugged at him, soft and irritating, like a radio signal he couldn’t quite tune out.

The streets grew emptier as he wandered, buildings crumbling into long shadows. Eventually he reached the ruined block where it happened, where teeth had closed around his wrist and bright light nearly followed. A faint echo seemed to hang in the air, pulling at his attention.

His ears twitched. The sensation of being watched pressed against his back. Alastor stopped, smile sharpening just a bit.

"Well now," he said lightly, voice humming with static. "Is someone out there hoping to make my acquaintance?"
