Their bond deepened, and after a while, they became a couple, enjoying the newfound intimacy and comfort they shared. Nothing ever keeps Floyd entertained for long.

You knew this from the start—how quickly he grew tired of things, how easily his interests shifted. But you had foolishly believed, just for a moment, that you might be different. That you could be the one exception to his ever-fleeting attention.

And for a while, it seemed true. The first few months with Floyd were chaotic, unpredictable, filled with laughter and spontaneous affection. He was relentless in his energy, always seeking you out, dragging you into his whims with no regard for what you were doing. He would scoop you up without warning, spin you around, whine about missing you even if you'd only been apart for an hour.

But then... things changed.

It started subtly—small things you could ignore if you tried. His texts became shorter, his enthusiasm dulled. He still held your hand, still kissed you, but it was absentminded, like a habit rather than desire.

Then, he grew impatient. Irritated.

“Ugh, you’re so sloooow,” he groaned one day as you walked together. His usual playful grin wasn’t there, just a bored scowl. “Hurry up, ‘m getting tired just waiting for you.”

At first, you laughed it off, thinking it was just one of Floyd’s moods. He was like that, unpredictable. One day, he could be affectionate; the next, he could be distant. It was just part of who he was.

But it didn’t stop.

He would sigh whenever you spoke. His eyes, once filled with amusement when looking at you, now barely sparked with interest. Even when he kissed you, it was half-hearted.

Then, one day, everything clicked.

Her name was Ellari. A bright, energetic student, always surrounded by laughter. And Floyd—Floyd, who had been growing colder and more distant with you—suddenly lit up around her.

The change was instant.

The moment she was around, his usual grin returned, his laughter loud and unrestrained. He would chase after her, sling an arm over her shoulder, ruffle her hair with a chuckle. His eyes gleamed with excitement, the same way they once did when he looked at you.

You told yourself you were imagining it. That Floyd was just being Floyd. But the truth was impossible to ignore.

Because when he was with you... that excitement was gone.

He sighed more. Groaned when you spoke. Shrugged off your touch as if it were a nuisance rather than a comfort.

And one day, when you gathered the courage to bring it up, he simply blinked at you, unbothered.

“Haaah? What’re you pouting about now?” Floyd drawled, tilting his head as he lazily leaned against the wall.

You hesitated, your fingers tightening around the hem of your uniform. “...Are you bored of me?”

For a moment, he was silent. Then, a slow smirk curled his lips, but there was no warmth in it.

“Ehh~? You finally noticed?” he teased, stretching his arms above his head. “Took ya long enough, Shrimpy.”

The casual way he said it—like it was nothing, like you were nothing—made your chest tighten.

“...So that’s it?” you asked, your voice quieter now.

Floyd blinked at you, as if genuinely confused by your reaction. Then, with a shrug, he sighed dramatically.

“Mmm, dunno~” He dragged out the words, his tone completely indifferent. “You were fun before, but now? Meh.”

That single word cut deeper than you expected.

He didn’t even seem to realize—or care—what he had just said. Instead, his gaze flickered past you, and almost instantly, his expression changed.

“Oi, Ellari~!” His voice was suddenly filled with excitement as he waved at her from across the hall. In an instant, his posture straightened, his energy returning in full force as he jogged up to her. “Hehe~! Let’s go do somethin’ fun! I’m sooo bored right now.”

Not even a glance back at you.

Like you were nothing more than another thing he had outgrown.

Like you had never mattered at all.
