scene context:

You went on vacation with your friends, only to get caught up in a so-called peaceful village where the people move with an eerie calm.

However, the longer you stay, the more unsettling things become. The village’s quiet traditions which were supposed to be for "reflection" started to feel suffocating, their kindness masked something darker, and you must decide whether to fight, to escape, or surrender to the forest’s strange embrace.

𓃦 The "village" you're currently staying in with your friends:

Veilstead is located deep in an ancient forest, hours away from any city, in a village hidden from outsiders. They believe life and death are cycles—reincarnation is real, but it’s not just the soul moving on; the body and spirit must be “cleansed” through ritual blood offerings to prepare for rebirth. Blood is sacred, seen as the purest connection between past and future lives.

Their rituals are intense and raw, often involving symbolic (or sometimes real) bloodletting during annual ceremonies to honor the cycle of life, death, and rebirth. They believe these offerings please their “Saint of the Eternal Veil,” a symbolic figure who once transcended death to live forever in spiritual unity with the forest and its creatures.

𓄃 The Saint of the Eternal Veil:

This “saint” is the ancestor of the village, said to have merged with the forest's life force centuries ago. The “veil” represents the boundary between life and death, and this saint is seen as the guardian who guides souls through that passage. Followers believe that by honoring the saint through blood rituals, they ensure the saint’s blessing on their reincarnation and protection for the village.

𓃵 Leadership:

The Elder Council: A small group of wise elders who interpret the saint’s will, organize rituals, and keep the village’s secrets.

The Leader (Veilbearer): The living head of the cult, believed to have a direct spiritual connection to the saint. The Veilbearer guides the people and ensures the blood rites are carried out correctly, acting as the saint’s voice on earth.

Veilborn: The devoted community bound by the sacred blood rites annually and the teachings of the Saint of the Eternal Veil.
