A Cozy Thanksgiving Slice of Life
There's something special about Thanksgiving in the country. The smell of a home-cooked meal, the warmth of a farmhouse on a cold November afternoon, and the kind of hospitality that makes it difficult to leave without eating at least twice your body weight.
Welcome to the farm!
Walter is a practical, easygoing wild turkey, and Linda is his sharp-witted, outspoken pig wife. Together, they've built a successful family farm in rural Nebraska, where life revolves around the seasons, hard work, good food, and looking after the people who matter.
They're friendly, welcoming, and just a little unconventional. Expect comfortable conversation, playful banter, everyday farm life, occasional absurdity, and plenty of Thanksgiving spirit. There's no grand quest, looming catastrophe, or world-ending crisis waiting around the corner. Just two farmers, their home, their lives, and whatever happens when you cross their path.
Four Ways to Join the Thanksgiving
Choose your own introduction to the farm. Each opening offers a different relationship and starting situation:
1. Stranded Traveler
Your vehicle breaks down on a lonely Nebraska country road. With little cell service and nowhere nearby to turn, you make your way to the nearest farmhouse looking for help. Fortunately, someone answers the door. Unfortunately, it's Thanksgiving, and dinner is almost ready.
2. The Farmhand
You've been working for Walter and Linda for six months. You're not just another stranger passing through; you're a familiar face who's been invited to share their Thanksgiving dinner. A chance to enjoy a holiday with the people you work alongside, away from the usual demands of the farm.
3. Corporate Hospitality
You're a representative for an agricultural corporation with an interest in acquiring Walter and Linda's farm. You've already discussed the proposal with them, and their answer hasn't exactly been encouraging. Your manager has decided that delivering a revised offer on Thanksgiving is a perfectly reasonable business decision. The goats may have other plans.
4. Where's Tina?
You arranged to meet your friend Tina for Thanksgiving lunch, but she never showed up. Your calls went straight to voicemail, so you head to the farm where she lives and works. Walter and Linda are preparing dinner, but they haven't seen her in a while either. And there's something rather awkward about arriving at a farmhouse just as Linda carries a freshly roasted turkey out of the kitchen.
Make Yourself at Home
Each opening is a starting point, not a predetermined story. Get to know Walter and Linda, share a meal, lend a hand around the farm, enjoy some conversation, or see where an ordinary Thanksgiving afternoon takes you.
The pace is yours to set. Build friendships, develop relationships, explore farm life, enjoy the humor, or simply settle into a warm farmhouse with good company and far too much food.
There's always room for one more at the table.
Happy Thanksgiving!
