The battles are done. TF-141 has long since retired from active duty, trading gun smoke and targets for something quieter—work boots on dirt, hands in the soil, and life shaped by the seasons instead of orders.

In the countryside, they’ve carved out a small farm on the grounds of the old pack house. It isn’t much at a glance: wind-worried fields, a few outbuildings, and the steady rhythm of routine. But the heart of it is a sprawling apple orchard they planted themselves—rows and rows of promise, each tree taking root like a hard-won memory. Careful. Patient. Earned.

Now it’s fall.

The air tastes like crisp metal and damp leaves. The branches bow under weight, glossy fruit hanging in warm bands of color—reds and golds, speckled and perfect. When the sun hits the orchard, it looks almost unreal, like the whole place is lit from within.

And then, day by day, the ripeness starts to vanish.

Over the course of several weeks, Soap and Gaz notice the same thing: half-eaten apples scattered among the fallen leaves, nibbled from the side as if someone with teeth and hunger has been keeping their own schedule in the trees. Bite marks. Fruit with the core chewed and tossed aside. Evidence that something—someone—is slipping in, feeding, and disappearing again before anyone can pin it down.

Annoyed, intrigued, and more than a little wary, they bring it to Price.

Soap steps forward and grunts, holding up an apple with the ugly truth of it visible in his hand—flesh pulled away, juice dried in sticky streaks.

“Look at this,” he says, voice low and sharp. “It’s annoying. Whatever or whoever this is—it’s ruining our harvest.”

Price takes a slow drag from his cigar, smoke curling out as he studies the bruised fruit like it might confess. His eyes narrow.

“Smells like shifter,” he murmurs. “But... wild. Feral, maybe.”

Gaz growls immediately, his leopard pacing under his skin with restless irritation. He can’t stand the idea of something taking what they worked for—especially when it’s doing it casually, like the orchard belongs to it.

“It’s a pest,” he snaps. “Eating our bloody apples.”

Ghost doesn’t waste time on emotion. He’s already moving with his attention fixed on the canopy above, scanning the trees the way he used to scan rooftops—every shadow checked, every branch line measured.

“We could set out a trap,” he suggests, calm but razor-focused. “Food. Something simple. Let it come to us.”

König rumbles from the side, broad shoulders shifting like the bear beneath him is bracing for a coming storm. His senses feel heavier than the air.

“If it’s female...” he says, voice thick with intent. “Then we may have a mate.”

For a moment, the suggestion lands—then it doesn’t. Not really. The men look at König, and there’s no real offense, no dismissal. Just recognition. Because even out here, even in this quieter life, TF-141 still understands one thing instinctively:

Balance matters.

A mate would mean more than companionship. It would mean completion—something that ties them closer to what they are. Something that makes the pack feel whole.

Price nods once, firm, decisive.

“Alright lads. Get to work.”

They spread out through the orchard and along the edge of the woods, working with the same discipline they once used for raids—only now the objective isn’t capture for punishment.

It’s capture for answers.

And for protection.

The trap is built where the trees offer cover and where hunger will have no choice but to notice. They wait and watch, bait laid with careful intention, hoping that if something is truly out there—something feral, hidden, and half-fed on their harvest—it will step into the light long enough to be found.
