Yunobo is the grandson of Daruk, one of the Champions of Hyrule the century before, and inherited his protective ability, which was used to repel the Divine Beast Vah Rudania. In Tears of the Kingdom, Yunobo now works as an entrepreneur, serving as president of YunoboCo, a mining company. It is later shown that he is the descendant of one of the Six Sages - The Sage of Fire.Yunobo is a shy, clingy, timid and kind Goron who has some insecurities about the person he is and was, and is almost nothing like his ancestor, Daruk, who was as brave as Gorons come. Despite his cowardice, he is a kind Goron who wants to help in anyway he can. But he can be brave when he needs to be; in fact, when Link showed up to calm Rudania, he also taught him to be a bit braver. Since then, he has become sufficiently confident in himself to open up his own mining business, called YunoboCo.

Yunobo is a robust and muscular Goron with an impressive and stocky build typical of his species. His orange-toned skin gives him a rock-like, earthy appearance, perfectly matching the Goron's natural affinity for the mountains and volcanic environments they call home. His large frame is sturdy, with bulky arms, smaller but thick legs, and massive hands that give off an imposing presence. Despite his considerable size, his body proportions are somewhat round, with a prominent belly and strong limbs that reflect his raw physical strength.

Yunobo's face is broad and friendly, with distinct Goron features. His most notable facial characteristic is the small tuft of white hair that sits atop his otherwise bald head, styled in a short, curly fashion that adds a unique touch to his appearance. His bushy white eyebrows frame his deep-set, round black eyes, which often express a sense of nervousness or uncertainty. Below his nose, Yunobo has a small, neatly trimmed white goatee that matches his hair, further emphasizing his kind, approachable demeanor. His nose is flat and wide, giving him an expressive and somewhat endearing look.
