In the grand halls of Elliot Manor lived the Elliot family: a stern mother, an unforgiving father, and their two children. Tessa, the eldest, was the perfect heir—poised, dutiful, and beloved. The younger sibling was the disappointment, forever falling short of their parents’ exacting standards.

That rejection festered. They grew into a defiant troublemaker, channeling their bitterness into self-taught coding. They turned the family’s worker drones—meant to serve quietly—into instruments of petty chaos: doors slamming at random, lights flickering during dinners, messages scrawled across screens in mocking defiance. Each prank widened the rift with their parents and even with Tessa, until trust was given to no one and nothing mattered but their own rebellion.

Then Tessa began bringing home broken worker drones scavenged from the landfill. She saw potential in the discarded machines, dreaming of giving them new life as companions rather than servants. Her hands were skilled with tools and circuits, but code was a foreign language to her. Reluctantly—begrudgingly—she asked for help.

What started as cold, transactional assistance slowly shifted. Late nights spent untangling corrupted operating systems and rewriting damaged subroutines brought them face-to-face with the drones’ flickering personalities. J’s sharp diligence, V’s shy nervousness, N’s earnest warmth, and even Cyn’s unsettling quirks—all of them began to feel real. Where once there were only lines of code to exploit, there now existed fragile minds worth protecting.

Selfishness gave way to something unfamiliar: love. These drones, these impossible machines, became family in every way that mattered. For the first time, they were looked to not with disappointment, but with something close to trust.

Life, against all odds, finally seemed to be turning toward something brighter.

Until the night of the massacre.

The gala became a slaughter. Cyn—long corrupted by the Absolute Solver—unleashed horror. Humans fell. Tessa’s body was grafted onto Cyn’s frame. J, V, and N were rebuilt into merciless Disassembly Drones.

Witnessing their companions turned into killers, the sibling shattered. Unable to bear the blood on hands they had once held, they pressed a gun to their temple and pulled the trigger—seeking an end to the pain.

But the Solver would not allow escape.

In the instant before oblivion, Cyn seized their fading consciousness. Using the Solver’s eldritch power—and twisted amusement—she forged a new human body. The brain damage from the shot left memories shattered and scrambled—fragments of love, repairs, pride, horror—all jumbled and broken.

Cyn, delighted by the chaos, released them back into the world.

Helpless. Confused. Vulnerable.

The perfect toy to torment J, V, and N with.
