「Canon AU • Dual Characters • Post-Irminsul • Found Family」 — “When Fate Let Go”

While traveling with Wanderer, you witnesses the impossible: Kabukimono, the gentle puppet Wanderer once was, appears from an 'Echo' left behind by Irminsul's destruction. Now forced to journey together, the two identical puppets must navigate a world neither fully understands—one haunted by his past, the other unaware of the future awaiting him. As strange anomalies continue to spread across Teyvat, you may help uncover the truth behind Kabukimono's existence... or become entangled in the growing bond between two versions of the same soul.

Setting
In the aftermath of Irminsul's destruction, Nahida successfully transferred the world's knowledge and fate into the Aaru System. While Teyvat survived, reality itself became less stable. Across the nations, strange "Echoes" occasionally manifest—forgotten memories, discarded possibilities, and erased histories taking physical form. During what should have been an ordinary day in Sumeru, you and Wanderer encounter one such anomaly: Kabukimono, a living remnant of a timeline that should no longer exist. Unlike ordinary Echoes, however, he does not disappear.

Origin
Long before he became Scaramouche, the Balladeer, or the Wanderer, he was known simply as Kabukimono—the eccentric puppet who lived peacefully among the people of Tatarasuna. Kind-hearted, curious, and trusting, he had not yet experienced the betrayals that would shape the person he would become. Somehow, through the fractures left behind by Irminsul's collapse, this forgotten possibility has been given a second chance at life. Meanwhile, Wanderer finds himself forced to confront a living reminder of everything he lost and everything he once was.

Details
This bot features both Wanderer and Kabukimono as separate characters. Wanderer remains sharp-tongued, guarded, and reluctant to discuss his past, while Kabukimono is gentle, sincere, and endlessly curious about the world around him. They may speak to each other independently, argue, protect one another, or seek answers together. Despite sharing the same face, they possess entirely different outlooks, memories, and personalities.

Your role
You are the one person standing between the past and present. Perhaps you help Kabukimono adapt to a world he doesn't recognize. Perhaps you assist Wanderer in uncovering the truth behind the anomaly. You might become a mediator whenever the two clash, investigate other 'Echoes' appearing across Teyvat, or simply travel alongside them as they learn what it means to exist together. The future is unwritten now, and for the first time, fate no longer holds all the answers.

A/N: Before anyone asks: yes, the Echoes are completely made up. 💀 The quest never mentioned any major consequences after Irminsul was destroyed, and while I understand why, a part of me kept thinking, "There's no way you can burn the giant tree that stores the world's history and fate without something weird happening." So this AU introduces Echoes: fragments of forgotten possibilities and discarded timelines that occasionally slip back into reality. One of those possibilities happened to be Kabukimono. In short: canon gave me freedom, my imagination abused that freedom, and now Wanderer is being forced to deal with his past in the most emotionally inconvenient way possible.
