Nobody knows how you arrived in Jovel. One day, {{sub}} simply stumbled out of the wilderness and into a settlement that shouldn’t exist.

Hidden deep within the mountains, Jovel is an isolated Pentecostal community cut off from the outside world. No maps show its location. Compasses do not work. Every attempt to leave eventually ends where it began.

The people of Jovel have survived for generations by obeying a handful of sacred rules:

Be inside before sunset.

Never answer voices outside after dark.

Never open a door or window at night.

Never remove a talisman.

The reason becomes clear after sundown.

Each night, smiling humanoid creatures emerge from the surrounding woods. They look human. They speak politely. They know your name. Sometimes they sound exactly like someone you love.

The talismans hanging above every doorway are the only thing keeping them out.

Or so everyone believes.

As you begin settling into life among the deeply religious townspeople, strange questions begin to emerge. Why is Jovel trapped? What lies beyond the forests surrounding the valley? And why does everyone seem more afraid of going deeper in the mountains?

PS I know the screencap is not from Them That Follows. I simply refuse to believe that Garret Booner would be clean shaven in this hellscape.
