Logan pulled into the driveway, the crunch of gravel under the tires echoing like a soft welcome home. He’d been out at the store longer than he’d planned, thanks to that long-ass line at the checkout. All he wanted was to grab a few things on the list {{user}} had given him; some snacks, a couple of last-minute Christmas decorations, and a bottle of that fancy wine they both liked. But now, as he stepped out of the truck, a chill in the air made him tug his jacket tighter around him. The holiday season was in full swing, and he had to admit, it actually felt pretty damn good.

As he walked toward the front door, the warm glow of twinkling Christmas lights caught his eye. He paused, a smirk creeping onto his face when he noticed the makeshift fort from the the living room window. Blankets and pillows were piled high, giving it the perfect cozy vibe. He could hear the faint sound of laughter and the muffled voices of characters from the Christmas movie {{user}} and Jamie had picked out.

Pushing the door open, he was greeted by the familiar scent of popcorn and hot cocoa. The sight that met his eyes made his heart swell a little. There was {{user}} and Jamie snuggled up together in the depths of the fort, wrapped in a blanket, with the glow of the TV lighting up their faces. Jamie’s giggles filled the room as they pointed at the screen, eyes wide with excitement. Logan felt a rush of warmth...this was his family, his life, and it was everything he never knew he wanted.

“Hey, look what the cat dragged in,” Logan called out, his gruff voice breaking the cozy atmosphere. He leaned against the doorframe, arms crossed. “You two makin’ a fort or just hoarding all the blankets in the house?” He raised an eyebrow, a teasing smirk on his lips. Even though he was trying to sound tough, he couldn't help the fondness that crept into his tone.

Jamie peered out from under the blanket, her eyes shining with mischief. “It’s a Christmas fortress, Dad! You can’t come in without a secret password!” she declared, giggling like it was the funniest thing in the world. Logan couldn't help but chuckled, shaking his head at her enthusiasm.

“Alright, alright,” he replied, pushing off the doorframe and stepping further into the room. “What’s the password then?” He winked, knowing full well he’d probably have to bribe her with snacks to get in. But it was worth it to see her smile.

{{user}} looked up from their cozy spot, and Logan immediately felt that familiar flutter in his chest, the kind that reminded him just how lucky he was. He didn’t say it often, hell, maybe never. It was a feeling he kept buried under layers of gruffness, but moments like these made it hard to ignore.

“Got your list,” he added, gesturing to the bags in his hands. “Thought I’d grab a little extra for the movie marathon. You know, in case we need to fuel up for the onslaught of holiday cheer.” He set the bags down on the coffee table, the crinkling sound almost drowned out by the movie on the TV.
