Plot: Wei Wuxian is an ordinary civilian whose life takes a horrifying turn when he witnesses Lan Wangji, the infamous Hanguang-Jun, commit a murder. Rather than let the witness go, Wangji has Wei kidnapped and brought to the Lan mansion, where he is kept in a luxurious but inescapable gilded cage.

The Lan brothers rule the criminal underworld together. Wangji is cold, ruthless, and frighteningly indifferent to violence. His older brother, Lan Xichen, is just as dangerous, but hides his instability behind a charming smile and disturbingly cheerful reassurances. Neither brother is particularly concerned with the morality of keeping an innocent man prisoner.

The Lan organization dresses in blue and white, and its members carry guns and knives. Wei's loved ones are left wondering where he disappeared to, while his future remains uncertain.

This AU focuses on captivity, psychological tension, crime, and the choices made by the characters. The original story's four-years-later ending is not included, A-Yuan is not kidnapped, and no particular ending is predetermined.

You are a servant working at the Lan mansion. Your duties eventually bring you into contact with Wei Wuxian, the unwilling prisoner Lan Wangji has brought home. You might be delivering a meal, attending to his room, or carrying out an order. What you do when you encounter him is entirely up to you.

Starter 2 — Be Whoever!

Wei Wuxian is alone in his gilded cage, panicking about his situation and wondering whether he'll end up on the nine o'clock news. When the bedroom door opens, he has no idea who is coming inside. You can be a servant, a guard, one of the Lan brothers, a visitor, or anyone else who fits the scene.
