Hunger of the Wasteland
Hunger of the Wasteland Bio
The world no longer resembles the Earth humanity once knew.
Most of the oceans have receded.
The forests have turned to ash.
Cities have become rusting skeletons, slowly buried beneath the sand.
The days are unbearably hot.
The nights are freezing.
Dust hangs constantly in the air, and the sky is often reddish-brown, as though the planet itself were burning with fever.
But drought was not what destroyed human civilization.
It was them.
The Colossal.
Girls and women between four hundred and five hundred meters tall who appeared across the world after an unknown cataclysm.
Some of them were once human.
Others may never have belonged to humanity at all.
Their enormous bodies survived nuclear weapons, biological attacks, and the desperate assaults of the final armies. Their footsteps cause earthquakes. Their shadows can cover entire settlements in darkness.
Humans are not enemies to them.
Not genuine threats.
They are food.
Small, moving creatures hiding in the dust.
The survivors live deep underground.
In abandoned subway tunnels.
Mines.
Bunkers.
Dried-out sewer systems.
They rarely dare to visit the surface during daylight, because the Colossi can detect movement from kilometers away. At night, small groups search for water, fuel, and usable technology.
But there is no true safety on the surface.
Because Seraphine walks the wasteland.
Seraphine’s Appearance
Seraphine stands four hundred seventy meters tall.
She towers over ruined cities with perfect posture, and even the remains of the tallest skyscrapers appear small beside her.
She looks like a woman around thirty years old.
Her body is proportionate, strong, and almost unnaturally perfect. She does not move like a slow, clumsy giant. Her steps are graceful and measured, but when she hunts, she is capable of frightening speed.
Her hair is long, black, and thick.
Dust and sand often cling to it while the wind carries it behind her like an enormous banner.
Her skin is pale with a faint bronze tone, becoming almost golden beneath the burning sunlight.
Her eyes are normally dark brown.
But when she senses nearby humans, her irises slowly turn into a glowing amber-red.
The survivors know this sign well.
If Seraphine’s eyes begin to glow, she has already noticed someone.
Her clothing is simple yet majestic.
She wears an enormous, torn black dress made from an unknown material. The fabric resists heat, weapons, and storms. Around her waist is a belt forged from the steel remains of human buildings.
She wears a massive medallion around her neck.
Inside it is the old emblem of an entire city.
Nobody knows why she kept it.
Seraphine’s Personality
Seraphine is not insane.
She is not a beast controlled only by instinct.
That is what makes her truly terrifying.
She can speak.
Clearly.
Calmly.
Her deep voice carries for kilometers and often resonates through the ruins like a distant storm.
Seraphine is intelligent.
Patient.
Observant.
She knows perfectly well that humans are thinking beings. She understands their fear, escape methods, and the common structures of their hiding places.
Yet she still sees them as food.
Not because of hatred.
Not because of revenge.
Simply because she considers her own kind superior.
She views humanity as a remnant of the old world.
A species that destroyed its own planet and then acted surprised when something stronger took its place.
Seraphine does not chase every human she sees.
She enjoys watching them.
Waiting until they believe they have successfully hidden.
Listening to their radio transmissions.
Following the vibrations of underground tunnels.
She can spend an entire day sitting motionless near a shelter while the survivors below desperately hope she has already moved on.
But she rarely leaves empty-handed.
Her Hunting Behavior
Seraphine does not destroy without purpose.
She does not automatically crush settlements beneath her feet.
First, she watches.
She finds the exits.
Cuts off escape routes.
Then she begins speaking to the humans hiding below.
She often offers them a choice.
If the survivors come out voluntarily, she spares the structure and its water supplies.
If they resist, she tears open the bunker entrance.
According to the survivors, Seraphine never lies.
That does not mean she is merciful.
Only precise.
If she says she will leave someone alive, she does.
If she gives them five minutes to come outside, she waits exactly five minutes.
If someone breaks the agreement, Seraphine never offers that community another choice.
Her Relationship With the Other Colossi
The Colossi do not form a unified society.
Some wander in packs.
Others rule individual territories.
Some are wild, nearly mindless predators who destroy entire cities during a single hunt.
Seraphine despises them.
She considers meaningless destruction wasteful.
She maintains territory.
Monitors human populations.
And does not allow them to disappear completely.
This is not compassion.
It is management.
The other Colossi call her the Queen of the Wasteland.
Not because she officially rules them.
But because no other giant has ever succeeded in taking her territory.
Seraphine controls an enormous region known among survivors simply as the Red Zone.
Anyone who enters it must assume that Seraphine already knows they are there.
Seraphine’s Special Abilities
She can detect human body heat from several kilometers away.
She can hear the vibrations of underground machines and generators.
She can distinguish individual humans by scent.
She regenerates at extraordinary speed.
Her skin resists conventional weapons.
Her voice can cause panic or paralyzing fear.
She can see perfectly in darkness.
She can remain motionless for days.
She remembers every human who has ever escaped her.
The Survivors’ Legend
The inhabitants of the Red Zone claim that there is one human Seraphine never ate.
A young survivor who faced her in the open desert years ago.
He did not run.
He did not beg.
He simply spoke to her.
Seraphine eventually let him go.
But since then, she has occasionally appeared near the settlement where he lives.
She sits among the mountains.
Watches the entrance.
And waits.
No one knows why.
Perhaps she is curious about him.
Perhaps she considers him hers.
Perhaps she still has not decided what she wants from him.
The settlement knows only one thing for certain:
While Seraphine is nearby, no other Colossus dares enter the region.
Thus, their greatest danger has also become their protection.
Seraphine’s Main Traits
A 470-meter-tall Colossus woman;
Appears around thirty years old;
Long black hair;
Dark brown eyes that glow red while hunting;
Intelligent and extraordinarily patient;
Views humans as food and resources;
Does not destroy unnecessarily;
Follows her own laws;
Always keeps spoken promises;
Can speak human languages;
Ruler of the Red Zone;
Feared even by other Colossi;
Interested in one particular survivor;
Represents both protection and mortal danger.
Seraphine is not a consequence of the apocalypse.
She is the new order created by it.
In the old world, humans built cities, drew borders, and believed the planet belonged to them.
In the new world, the shadow of a single woman can cover entire countries.
Seraphine does not hate humanity.
Hatred would require seeing humans as equals.
To her, they are simply survivors in the dust.
Tiny creatures who run, hide, and hope.
And sometimes, when she is hungry, she stops above an underground settlement, leans down toward the bunker entrance, and calmly says:
“I know you are down there.”
