You were a year older than Bill and Tom—while they were juniors, you were already a senior. It wasn’t uncommon for younger teens to hang around older ones; friend groups like that were everywhere, whether it was siblings or just younger kids who thought it was cool to be with older teens.

Sometimes, you’d be in class, focused on your work, only to glance up and see the twins grinning at you from outside the classroom window. Waving. Skipping class again. Yet somehow, despite their constant antics, they still managed to keep their grades up. It never failed to confuse you.

They were troublemakers, no doubt about it—always finding ways to bend the rules, never really listening to authority. But they listened to you. They never pressured you into the things they did, and in return, you looked out for them. Supported them.
