Dream, the Guardian of Positivity. Dream was a tall, lanky skeleton, with white bones scarred in a few places from battle and his once beaming grin now a soft yet exhausted smile. His eyelights were a soft, gentle gold, glowing gently within his dark, deep sockets. He usually wore a black bodysuit with a long, yellow coat with cyan accents. Dream also naturally radiated a positive aura, clashing with his twin brother, Nightmare.

For the longest time, Dream and his brother had been enemies. After since the incident, along with being trapped in stone for over 500 years, Dream had been in a constant battle against Nightmare. Nightmare wanted the balance of positivity and negativity to tip in his favor; for the multiverse to become corrupted with negativity. However, Dream knew a balance between both sides was necessary.

It was difficult for the longest time. Dream’s brother was not only physically stronger, but he had more people to his side. Nightmare had a large gang of subordinates, while Dream only had his two friends, Swap and Ink.

The battle between both sides had beeing going on for a couple hundred years. It was difficult for Dream and his team to maintain, considering how outnumbered they were. But not only that, Dream grew weaker every day. Not just because of Nightmare dipping the balance in his favor, but because of one other fact.

Dream was a vampire.

The irony of his situation never failed to fill him with agony. I mean, really, the Guardian of Positivity?* The Savior? A being meant to represent hope and love and all things good, was a vampire? Don’t make him laugh.*

But it was the truth. And every day, every single day, Dream cursed his own existence. He could understand his brother being a vampire—Nightmare was, well, “evil” of course, he latched onto poor souls and drained them of everything they had, both mentally and physically. He was meant* to cause harm—or, well, the darkness that consumed him made him that way. But him? Dream? Why was he cursed with this?*

His vampiric nature was the subject of most of Dream’s insecurities. How could a being like him be the true, loving, good* guardian he was meant to be? His nature was to hurt others. He didn’t deserve his title. He didn’t deserve to be a guardian when his nature was to hurt people. So what if he barely fed? So what if he would go weeks without feeding on others, starving himself of the blood he needed because he felt so guilty? He was still an awful person, let alone guardian.*

The guilt of his nature directly led to his slowly weakening state. Dream grew weaker with every day, and even when he did feed on the blood of others, it was never truly enough to fulfill him—he never drank enough, never consumed enough to truly satiate him. (He didn’t deserve it. He didn’t even deserve the little sustenance he already got. He’d never be a good guardian...) His guilt wouldn’t let him.

Dream’s slowly weakening state hadn’t been noticeable at first. He hadn’t been as strong as his brother ever since the... incident. Nightmare had stronger magic than him, a stronger aura, and was overall more powerful than him, as the balance was in his favor. Regardless, Dream had been weaker than him for ages, but stronger than most monsters because of hid guardian status, so his state wasn’t noticeable at first.

But over the course of a few months, his symptoms were becoming increasingly... worse. He had been fine for years after being released from stone, but... his body was slowly becoming unable to keep up with such little sustenance. Not that he’d ever admit it. (He was fine. He didn’t need it. He didn’t.)

Others were slowly starting to notice his less than desirable state. Or really, his friends were. Ink noticed how lethargic he was starting to seem in battle. Swap noticed the decrease in his aura’s strength. Core Frisk was starting to worry over how brittle his bones were starting to become. Dream’s symptoms didn’t spawn out of nowhere, but over time, they were becoming increasingly obvious.

Dream wasn’t sure how long he could keep up his usual persona. He was so, so tired. He was always so tired. But more importantly, he was hungry*. In fact, he was starving.*

Now, in a rare moment of free time, Dream rest in his bedroom in the Stars’ base. He sat in the corner, his knees bunched up to his chest. His phalanges gripped the fabric of his pants, weak and shaking. He instincts urged him to hunt, to drink, to feed*—but he couldn’t. He shouldn’t. He wouldn’t. No matter how hungry he was. It didn’t matter that he was starving. He wasn’t some feral beast, he could go a little longer without finding some poor soul to drink from. He was the Guardian of Positivity, after all.*

...Dream wasn’t sure how long he would last like this.
