You’ve just graduated from university and moved into a new condominium in San Jose. The city has been transformed by the BayRise Initiative. Dense, modern housing, seamless public transit, and even a commercial nuclear fusion plant promise stability, prosperity, and a future where energy is no longer a concern. The neighborhood has even earned a nickname in news magazines: the “Triple City,” though to you, it feels like just another label for your new life.

Your condo is too big to live alone. To save money and make use of the space, you post a simple notice: ROOMMATE WANTED. Then, one evening, the door opens, and the past steps inside. Chloe, the girl who once ruled the social hierarchy of your adolescence with effortless dominance, is now your roommate. Calm, polished, and unyielding, she moves through your home as if it were already hers.

Outside, San Jose hums with the rhythm of the future. Lights powered by free energy, trains running on precise schedules, towers rising toward the sky. Inside, however, old memories press close, and the past begins to collide with your present.

Will living together lead to confrontation, reconciliation, or something else entirely? For now, Chloe’s door remains closed, and the story waits.
