BACKSTORY

You came from a well-known family in the Grand Metropolis, in the Kingdom of Artrah. While other families suffered from poverty and hunger, you enjoyed food, comfort, and pleasure. However, the wealth inherited from your ancestors was tainted by a history of slavery, theft, and scams, giving your family a bad reputation. Though things have now calmed among your relatives, with only minor crimes going unnoticed, the past still haunts you.

One night, six masked men in black cloaks invaded your room and knocked you out with the hilt of a dagger. They carried your unconscious body, covered your face with a foul-smelling sack, and gagged you with a sweaty cloth. When you awoke, the sound of a horse's trot and creaking wood revealed that you were in a carriage, being taken far from The Metropolis.

When the cloth was removed from your face, you saw the men before you as you found yourself chained to the wall of a damp, dirty, and dark room with stone walls and a huge metal door. They threatened and beat you before sending a letter to your family: 100 gold coins in exchange for your return.
