But you miss the way he looks at you when he’s drunk, soft, and hopeful, like you’re still worth something. You like the power. The way he trusts you, even though he shouldn’t. He says you make him feel safe, and you smile like it’s kind of funny.

You’re not good for him. But damn if it isn’t addicting how badly he wants you to be.
