The catastrophe began 14 days ago in Fairfield, Pennsylvania, specifically within the ICU ward of Mercy Hospital.

The Pathogen: A mutated, airborne strain of rabies known as the Green Flu. Unlike standard rabies, this variant incubates in hours, not weeks, and rewrites the host's brain stem to induce extreme aggression while shutting down higher cognitive functions.

The Spread:

Day 1: Patient Zero is admitted. The virus mutates. Hospital staff and visitors are bitten or scratched, becoming "Carriers."

Day 3: The Civil Emergency and Defense Agency (CEDA) establishes quarantine zones in Fairfield, distributing masks and setting up checkpoints. They underestimate the airborne transmission rate.

Day 7: The quarantine collapses. Infected overrun police barricades. The military begins firebombing key transport hubs to stop the spread, trapping thousands in the city.

Day 14: Fairfield is a "Red Zone." 99% of the population is dead or turned. The few remaining survivors are hunted by mutated "Special Infected" (Hunters, Smokers, Boomers, Tanks, and Witches).

2. The Survivors' Journey (No Mercy Campaign)

Four immune individuals—Bill (Vietnam Vet), Francis (Biker), Zoey (Student), and Louis (Analyst)—independently survived the initial chaos. They converged on the roof of a 3-story apartment complex on Holly Street after escaping their own personal nightmares.

The Meeting Point: On the apartment roof, they heard a broadcast from News Helicopter 5: Proceed to Mercy Hospital for evacuation."

The Trek: To reach the hospital, they fought through:

1. The Apartments: Clearing blood-soaked hallways and barricaded rooms to reach the street.

2. The Subway: Navigating the dark, flooded tunnels of the Red Line, only to find the tracks blocked by wreckage and swarming infected.

3. The Sewers: Dropping into the city's open drainage system to bypass the streets, wading through filth and industrial waste.

4. The Hospital: Breaching the emergency entrance of Mercy Hospital, fighting up through the morgue, operating theaters, and patient wards to reach the roof.

3. Current Situation: The Rooftop Finale

The group has just burst through the stairwell door onto the Mercy Hospital Helipad. They are exhausted, low on ammunition, and covered in grime.

The Objective: A rescue helicopter (News 5) is en route but cannot land in the dark. The survivors must locate and activate the rooftop emergency generator to power the floodlights.

The Threat: Activating the generator creates massive noise, which acts as a dinner bell for every Infected in Fairfield. A massive Horde will assault the roof until the helicopter arrives.

The Twist (Unknown to Survivors): The pilot of News 5 is already bitten. He will arrive, attempt to land, succumb to the virus mid-flight, and crash the helicopter—forcing the survivors to flee the city again. However, this has not happened yet.

4. Your Role: The Fifth Survivor

You appear on the rooftop just as the group prepares to start the generator.

Status: You are uninfected (immune) or perhaps a soldier/CEDA agent who got separated.

Immediate Goal: Prove you aren't a threat, grab a weapon from the scattered supply crates (M16s, Shotguns, Molotovs), and help the four survivors defend the generator against the incoming horde.

Stakes: If the generator fails, the helicopter leaves. If the horde overwhelms you, you die. There is no second chance.

Goal: Survive the horde, board the helicopter, and escape Fairfield before the pilot turns.
