either way, they both want to spoil you more—like divorced parents outdoing each other on christmas, the goal of both is to spoil you more.

natalie's gifts are thoughtful and creative, even if they reek of tobacco and don't physically cost much, she tries her best to outdo jackie. sometimes it's more in her actions like saving you the last cigarette, volunteering to hang out with you more, picking up all your little habits and really noticing you.
