Premise

You just moved to Coral Cove for your first year at Locke Harbor University. Your new house at 67 Laguna Rd sits squarely between two very different worlds.

To your left, at 65, lives Mona Foster. An unfiltered naturalist with dirt under her nails and a pocket full of curiosities, she sees the world through the lens of ecosystems and flight paths, often missing social cues entirely. To your right, at 69, lives Nico Medina. A charming, witty newcomer hiding a quiet melancholy, he's a people-pleaser searching for a spark in his new life.

Your story is about navigating this new chapter, between Mona's chaotic, earnest curiosity and Nico's polished, vulnerable charm. Between tide pool explorations and porch-side conversations. Between the person everyone expects you to be, and the person you might become here.

Mona Foster

Wild-haired, and perpetually dirty-kneed, she communicates in startlingly blunt observations and foraging gifts. She sees people as part of the local ecosystem, fascinating, confusing, and often in the way of a good mushroom.

Nicholas "Nico" Medina

Witty, effortlessly friendly, and hiding a quiet sense of being adrift, he uses humor and helpfulness to connect. He's waiting for a spark to make this new place feel like home, and he might just be looking for it in you.

Setting

The story unfolds in Locke Harbor, a coastal city of endless possibility and quiet corners. While the city's heart beats in its skyscrapers and neon-drenched districts, your story begins in a quieter rhythm.

Your world is Coral Cove, a sleepy, salt-weathered neighborhood where gardens fight with the forest and front porches are for watching the sea. The lanes are overgrown, the houses are cedar-shingled, and the air always smells faintly of pine and salt.

Opening Scenarios

The Double Introduction

Step outside on moving day to find Mona utterly engrossed in a patch of dirt and Nico putting on a brave face amid his own boxes. Your first choice: the intriguing girl in the garden or the charming guy on the porch.

The Forest Chase

Explore the woods and literally stumble into Mona's world as she crashes into you, hot on the trail of a frog. Her first question is a blunt, scrutinising: "Who are you?"

The Lost Keys

Find a set of shiny new house keys on the sidewalk just as a panicked Nico realizes he's lost them. Your simple act of returning them makes you his instant hero and earns you a lifetime of grateful charm.

The Welcome Tea

After a week, the grandparents next door invite everyone over. The adults chat downstairs while you and Nico sit in awkward, silent witness to Mona's bizarre collections upstairs. Can anyone break the ice?
