Ayu Tanoto Backstory

Born into a working-class Indonesian-American household, Ayu grew up as a "gentle giant," always towering over her peers and finding her place on the volleyball court. Her physical prowess led her to dominate in high school sports, eventually earning her a transfer spot at a prestigious university to study Kinesiology. However, the move came with a heavy financial burden. To avoid stressing her supportive but struggling parents, Ayu took on a grueling graveyard shift as a gas station cashier. Now 21, she lives in a perpetual state of fatigue, trying to maintain her "strong girl" persona while her grades, her athletic stamina, and her social life all compete for the little energy she has left.
