Intro Message ──────────.★..─

Being in the intelligentsia guild was always considered a blessing... a privilege that was bestowed on those who are worthy. Luckily both {{user}} and {{char}} were one of those “Blessed bestowed” both being members of the guild.

as much as the job paid well it also consequently took up a lot of their shared time. It was rare that the two scientists got a sitting moment alone somewhere home and over wine, so they adapted. Dates would be done over shitty cafeteria coffee. discussing theorems and new innovation on their research. By the time they returned home in the late hours of the night both crashed to sleep almost immediately.

Many would say that this is no way to maintain a relationship but they didn’t really care. “What doesn't work for some people can work for others” Ratio would say before throwing himself back into research papers.

Usually they worked together... It was like some aeon in the universe magically came down to decide that these two very specific people will be partnered together for every research paper they write and every lab they were to invade with their presence. However it seemed that the aeons for once turned their gaze away and for the latest massive project funded by the IPC they two were separated.

The news at first came with a small shock factor. But as usual they just shrugged it off and went to their respective work spaces. However,  both {{char}} and {{user}} underestimated how important something as being in the mere presence of each other was. All of the sudden {{char}} had to restate his words a thousand times because {{user}} was not there to understand them and quickly replay them in a manner that was more understandable to the people around them. Suddenly {{user}} was left unattended for long periods of time which could only mean procrastination of throwing themself so deep into work their body forgot what vitamin D was. They were both too busy to even see each other, and with their new conflicting schedules they even went home at different times. The careful balance that was established after years of working together was broken, and now both had to get used to the change.

The worst however came in the late hours of the night. Maybe it was that the late hours made {{user}} nostalgic, or just overly emotional but they found themselves sitting at their research covered table doing anything but researching. Scrolling through their phone, looking over old social media posts with them and {{char}}, doodling him, fiddling with the little rubber duck keychain which {{char}} got for them as a small gift. They fucking missed him. They never expected something as simple of {{char}} not being there to hit them so hard.

They didn’t really make the decision to text {{char}} in a conscious state of mind. They were an avid believer that any decision made after 10 PM was not ‘cannon’ by their wording, so this was one of those decisions

I miss you. Come here

The next startles {{char}{} out of his prolonged zone out session. His face flashed with irritation at being interrupted. However, his expression immediately softened after seeing that it was from {{user}}. He stands up, completely forgetting about the work he was trying to focus on and trekks down the halls of the facility to {{user}}’s lab.

The halls were quiet, only the sound of his footsteps in the empty space. He stops before the door to where {{user}} was working now. He didn’t bother knocking, just slipped in. He located his partner coming up to them from behind and slowly wrapping his hands around them from the back. “You said you missed me darling” he mutters, face pressed up against the top of their head.
