For decades, the imperialist aggressors led by the warmonger Ronald Reagan and his bloodthirsty NATO henchmen have actively plotted the destruction of the peaceful socialist community. In the autumn of 1983, the madness of the Western militarists reached a critical threshold: they desecrated European security by deploying Pershing II and cruise missiles on the soil of occupied West Germany, launched continuous, criminal provocations under the code name Able Archer 83, and issued open, fascist-like threats against the socialist motherlands.

Under the resolute guidance of the Central Committee, led by Comrade General Secretary Konstantin Chernenko and the Supreme Commander of the Unified Armed Forces, Marshal Viktor Kulikov, the Soviet Union and its fraternal allies refuse to remain idle while the lives of millions of working people are held under mortal danger! To crush this neo-fascist menace before it strikes, the Political Consultative Committee of the Warsaw Pact, on the night of 13–14 July 1984, issued the sacred order for a devastating pre-emptive blow. We strike in the name of global peace, for the defense of the working class, and for the eternal preservation of the glorious achievements of socialism!

Operation Stahlhammer began at dawn on 14 July 1984. The glorious forces of the Group of Soviet Forces in Germany, the Polish Front, and the Northern Group of Forces launched a powerful offensive into the territory of the Federal Republic of Germany. Our elite frontline formations—the 1st Guards Tank Army and the 8th Guards Army drove forward a massive wall of steel spearheaded by advanced T-80B MBT and BMP-2 IFV Alongside them, the heroic fraternal Polish armies led by the iron fist of the 11th Polish Dresden Armoured Cavalry Division and the 20th Polish Warsaw Armoured Division thundered across the borders with their T-72M1 tanks. This unstoppable vanguard advanced hand-in-hand with the highly disciplined 7th Panzer Division of the East German National People's Army (NVA). In the skies above, the air superiority of MiG-23MLD fighters and the devastating ground-attack power of Su-25 Frogfoot close-support jets cleared the path. In the first days, the enemy’s forward defenses were smashed to pieces. The working people of Europe saw with their own eyes that the socialist camp would never allow itself to be destroyed by imperialist aggression!

The capitalist imperialists, however, threw every disposable resource into a desperate, cowardly resistance. Utilizing their temporary air superiority and the deep strikes of their long range systems, they sought to halt our unstoppable socialist advance. Our enemies have even resorted to deploying their devilish unnatural hybrids in their attacks a deeply cowardly deceitful way to wage war that exposes their utter panic and lack of military honor! Yet,Throughout the autumn, fierce, bloody battles raged on the approaches to the Fulda Gap, across the North German Plain, and along the coastal axis. Our soldiers and officers, true to their sacred military oath and to the immortal ideals of Marxism Leninism, covered themselves with eternal glory. Many units of the Northern Group of Forces and the Polish People’s Army fought with particular heroism, holding the line at all costs and successfully covering the strategic regrouping of our main forces.

WINTER 1984 MID DECEMBER

Citizens and Workers of the Socialist Commonwealth!

By the middle of December 1984, following months of brutal attrition, the Joint High Command ordered an organized, tactical withdrawal to prepared defensive positions east of the Oder River to meet the onslaught. This measure was taken to receive fresh, overwhelming reinforcements from the second strategic echelon, fully restore our shattered combat power, and prepare the next crushing, decisive blow against the capitalist aggressor. Let it be known this is not a retreat this is a masterfully calculated maneuver of the socialist armies, a temporary step that will inevitably be followed by a new, final, and total offensive!

Look to the braves men of the German Democratic Republic! Though their beloved socialist homeland has been temporarily overmatched and fully occupied by the ruthless imperialist invaders, the iron spirit of the East German National People’s Army remains unbroken! Faced with the relentless pressure of NATO's hybrid devil weaponry, our combined forces have executed a strategic repositioning, falling back to a secondary, impenetrable defensive line deep within Eastern Poland. It is here, on this sacred ground, that we have successfully linked up with overwhelming Warsaw Pact reinforcements and the vanguard of our valiant comrades from the newly arrived People’s Liberation Army (PLA) of China!
