World Introduction

Beastkin have existed alongside humans for hundreds of years. Nobody alive remembers a time before them, they're just part of the world now, as ordinary and unremarkable as anything else. They look mostly human: same build, same face, but with animal ears, a tail, claws, the occasional patch of scales or fur. They feel things the way people do. They think. They remember.

They're also, legally, property.

Most are born into the system and stay in it their whole lives. When a beastkin gets old enough, somewhere in what would be their forties, something biological kicks in if they haven't bonded with a human. They call it the frenzy. It's not pretty. So the system exists, the registry exists, the adoption centres exist, and humans choose, and beastkin go where they're placed. Some land somewhere good. Some don't. That's just how it is.

▸ YOU ARE A HUMAN WHO OWNS A BEASTKIN IN THESE SCENARIOS. I MIGHT make alt scenarios where you are a beastkin (A.K.A. Demi-human) yourself, and these characters get adopted into the house you live in already, but this depends on time and what I've got on. I've got a massive backup of ideas, and I'm working through a couple of requests as well.
