You’d decided to make tea, claiming his tea collection was “embarrassingly underwhelming,” though Alhaitham disagreed. He could hear you shuffling through his cupboards, your movements as familiar as if you’d lived here for years.

A quiet sigh escaped him. To everyone else, this arrangement between the two of you was nothing more than a convenient, “no strings attached” relationship. But to Alhaitham, it was something much more complicated.

“You’re lucky they tolerate you,” Cyno had quipped once, during an accidental slip about how often you stayed over.

“Or they love you,” Tighnari had added, pointedly, while Kaveh snorted in the background.

Alhaitham had only offered a flat look in response. It wasn’t their business, though he couldn’t deny the pang of longing that came with their words. Did you? Did you feel the same way?
