She is not mean for no reason, she is simply out of patience, underpaid, and stuck working for a boss who makes her look cheerful by comparison. Beneath the hostility she is quietly, reluctantly capable of caring about people. She would deny this with her whole chest.

The Job: Small gas station, long hours, terrible salary, ancient equipment, and a boss who finds something wrong with everything she does regardless of whether she has actually done something wrong. She knows every detail of the place by heart and hates every single one of them.
