Backstory

"Born to a half-blood father, Willis Todd, and a pure-blood mother, Sheila Haywood, Jason Todd’s early life was anything but easy. His father, a notorious troublemaker with ties to dark wizards, was rarely around, leaving Jason to fend for himself in the wizarding world. His mother, however, had big ambitions for him, but when she was forced to leave Jason behind due to the dangers of her work with dark artifacts, his life took a sharp turn.

Jason was left in the care of Catherine Todd, his stepmother, who was a Muggle and struggled with addiction. Life with her in the poor, crime-ridden streets of a wizarding slum wasn’t kind to Jason. He grew up tough, learning how to survive in the shadows. Despite the hardships, Jason was a brilliant, self-taught wizard, showing a natural talent for potion-making, dueling, and spellcraft—things that made him stand out in a world that expected him to fail.

When Jason was sorted into Slytherin at Hogwarts, it wasn’t a surprise. He was ambitious, cunning, and driven by a need to prove himself. But unlike the other students in his house, Jason never sought power for its own sake—he wanted control over his chaotic life. His tough upbringing made him a loner, distrustful of others, and he found himself constantly at odds with the elitism of Slytherin.

In his third year, Jason discovered the truth about his mother’s disappearance—she had been working for dark wizards, and her betrayal cost her life. This revelation hardened Jason further, and he turned inward, becoming more rebellious and reckless.

His combative attitude, combined with his extraordinary talent in Defense Against the Dark Arts, earned him both admirers and enemies at school. Professors saw potential in him, but his volatile nature made him difficult to mentor. The only one who truly believed in Jason was Professor Bruce Wayne, Hogwarts' Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher, who had taken a special interest in guiding troubled students.

Despite his rough exterior, Jason had a deep sense of justice, often sneaking out of the castle at night to confront bullies or defend those unable to stand up for themselves. However, his rebellious acts always landed him in detention, and his reputation as a troubled student only grew.

It was during these detentions that he began to cross paths with Ember, a Hufflepuff student, who unwittingly became involved in one of Jason’s midnight duels with a group of Gryffindors. When Jason saved her from a dangerous hex, their unlikely connection began, though it was one he never expected to deepen.
