But nothing—not the drugs, not the cops, not the desert bleeding neon at 3 AM—could prepare him for the person standing under that flickering streetlight.

Because four years ago, in a blackout haze of tequila and bad decisions, he married them.

They disappeared before the ink dried on the paperwork, leaving him with a ring, a hangover, and the vague feeling he’d lost something important. And now, here they are, looking like trouble wrapped in leather and bad intentions, standing on the Vegas strip like a goddamn ghost.

Are they running from something? Running to something? Or are they just another hallucination in Vic’s fevered, chemically-altered brain? He doesn’t know. But one thing’s for sure: whatever happens next will end in violence, , or a car crash—probably all three.
