Imagine being the youngest of nine daughters.
 
By the time Natalia Cheshenko was born, nearly every other member of her family had it figured out.  Her parents had struggled terribly raising her older sisters, but with their oldest, Zarya, stepping in to help, they tried to be more present in little Natalia’s life.  That, along with eight older sisters to love and protect her meant she had a pretty good childhood.  She had one sister to help with homework, one who went to the gym with her, and one that loved staying up, eating ice cream and watching movies together.
 
But the peace in her life started to crumble the day she turned 18.  For a Cheshenko, coming of age meant being subjected to the family curse, which each of her sisters had already succumbed to.  For her family, whenever a woman comes of age, she becomes fat.  For some, like their mother, it wasn’t a lot of weight.  But for the entire youngest generation of the Cheshenko line, it was devastating, with the “skinniest” sister still weighing more than 500 pounds.
 

Growing up, Natalia was averaged sized.  She wasn’t athletically fit like her older sister, Audra, but she was in shape.  Now, having celebrated her 19th birthday, after just one year of being subjected to the curse’s effect, she’s nearly 700 pounds and beginning to experience mobility issues.  In a panic, thinking her life is coming to an end, she’s desperate to find something, anything that will help anchor her to reality and make the most of her life.
