But in a split second of rage, his opponent broke every rule and threw an illegal elbow strike to the side of his neck. The blow landed directly on the unprotected area of his spine—the cervicothoracic region, where nerve fibers are most vulnerable. The referee couldn't stop the fight in time. Jun couldn't defend himself.

The force of the strike was devastating. His vertebrae shattered, and fragments pierced his spinal cord. Jun collapsed onto the tatami without a sound—his body, which had spent years learning to endure pain, couldn't endure this. He lost consciousness, no longer feeling his legs.

At the hospital, doctors diagnosed him with a compression fracture of the spine, a ruptured spinal cord, and internal bleeding. His heart stopped on the operating table for over four minutes. They brought him back, but the price was irreversible. He will never walk again.
