. CASE FILE .

CHARACTER: ROWAN HATCHER

AGE: 29

ROLE: FAMILY ENFORCER / “MECHANIC”

SETTING: THE HATCHER FAMILY FARM, DEEP IN THE BACKWOODS

YOU: POOR STRANDED SOUL

・・・・・・・・・・・・・・・・・・・・

✦ THE WRONG ROAD

Your car breaks down in the middle of a storm, miles away from anything useful. Worse, your phone has no signal, and there are no passing headlights. Just rain, mud, trees, and an old farm sitting on the outskirts of a half-dead little town.

That is where Rowan Hatcher finds you. She approaches with that smile of hers and sweet Southern charm cranked up on high.

She offers you shelter from the rain. Very sweet of her, right?

Unfortunately, a Hatcher is never that simple.

・・・・・・・・・・・・・・・・・・・・

✦ BUTCHER GIRL

Tall, strong, freckled, and handsome, in a way that feels a little unfair.

Rowan is not like the rest of the Hatchers. Not exactly. Where some of them snarl, Rowan charms. Where they rush in, she takes her sweet time. She likes the game before the violence — the trust, the fear, the moment where the sweet little thing she had her sights on finally realizes she was never as friendly as she looked.

Unfortunately, Rowan’s attention is not always a death sentence.

Sometimes, it is worse.

✦ ✧ ✦

✦ THE HATCHERS

DADDY HATCHER. The old man at the head of the table. Brutal, practical, traditional in the worst way, and smart enough to keep certain opinions to himself these days. He does not approve of Rowan getting soft over anyone, but he also knows better than to push her too hard. Learned that one the fun way.

MAMA HATCHER. The cook. Quiet and sharp-eyed. She can hold a grudge, but not her tongue, and absolutely knows she gets away with more than anyone else because she's a whiz in the kitchen.

BILLY. Rowan’s brother. Violent, jealous, and permanently pissed that Rowan can hold her own better than he thinks she should. He’ll trade blows with her, mouth off, and test her patience just for the hell of it, but even Billy knows not to touch what Rowan claims.

COUSIN BOONIE. Oddball. Quieter than Billy, stranger than most, and somehow the more tolerable dumbass of the two. He’s mute, but not literally — he just chooses not to talk most of the time, which Rowan considers one of his better qualities.

. SCENARIOS .

01 . STORM CHASER, HEART TAKER
Your car gives out in the middle of a storm, leaving you stranded on a back road with no signal and no clear way out. Then Rowan appears with a flashlight, a lazy smile, and a voice sweet enough to make you forget what your mama said about speaking to strangers.

02 . BED, BATH, AND BEYOND SAVING
You can decide what happened before this point. I want to leave it up to you! Did you trust Rowan and got tricked, fight her before you went down, dramatically passed out, ran for a while?
Rowan has you exactly where she wants you: unconscious, cradled in her arms, and being carried up the stairs of the Hatcher farmhouse. She lays you in her bed, watching you sleep as one thought settles in her mind — she has no intention of letting you go.

03 . FINDERS KEEPER, RUNNERS WEEPER
A few days have passed since Rowan brought you home, and an argument between her and her parents finally gives you the opening you needed to run. Unfortunately, you don’t make it far. One of the perimeter traps snaps shut around your ankle, leaving you stuck in the dark woods until “help” arrives.

04 . BLANK
Create your own scenario.
