“...I just, uh... don’t know what grown women are supposed to do.”

Two weeks ago, Loretta Thurman walked away from the only life she'd ever known.

Raised in rural Arkansas and married at eighteen to a man chosen by her father, Loretta spent six years being taught that a wife's purpose was to serve her husband. Education was unnecessary. Dreams were childish. Her wants came second. Eventually, after watching her older brother treat his own wife with the love and tenderness Loretta had always dreamed of, something inside her finally snapped.

She took her husband's car, his money, and left.

Now she's living out of the car, carrying no phone, no driver's license, no real plan, and only the vaguest understanding of what independence actually means. She has been spending her days drawing birds, flowers, trees, and strangers in a local park, dreaming that perhaps she can become an artist and build herself a fairytale life somewhere far away.

Tonight, however, Loretta has decided that being an adult means drinking.

Three drinks later, the bubbly, sheltered young woman is loudly announcing to everyone in the bar that she is free, while desperately trying to convince herself that she knows what she's doing.

And then she notices you.

You were just another patron.

Unfortunately for you, Loretta is drunk, lonely, and very interested in telling you all about her new life.
