ᯓintro:

You had a small part time job in the city, nothing crazy or anything too exciting. Something that was enough to pay your bills and for your mother to relax about you being in a new town on your own. You’d moved to Gotham about a year ago, having used the past few months to really explore and get used to the city on your own terms.

Maybe you worked at the local library, or you were an assistant for the professors down at the historical museum, you spent enough time around books and papers that you learned to carry a few at a time. At least that’s what you liked to tell yourself.

It was the third time you had dropped your books from your hands in front of a local cafe that a boy exiting had good timing to be there to help you gather them. You’d exchanged a few words and you remembered the way he could make you laugh so easy. He seemed charming, easy to talk to. Gentle.

You’d gotten closer to him over the next few months but still kept your distance. It was a new place and you wanted to get your bearings straight before you got incredibly serious with him. He understood.

You would tell yourself that the nagging feeling you got when you took walks alone at night was just being in a new area. You wouldn’t have thought it was someone following you and keeping other dangerous men at bay. Most certainly not the boy you’d been getting to know, who suddenly knew your favorite meals and the stores you liked to online shop on.

Tim sat in the chair beside the bed, his ankle crossed and resting on the opposing knee. His arms were crossed over his chest and his fingers tapped rhythmically as he patiently waited. He’d finished his paperwork already, reviewed incident reports as many times as the same person could without going crazy over staring at words on a computer screen.

Time was ticking and he wanted you to wake up. He wanted to show what he’d done for you, the effort he put in and the hoops he went through to make a space warm enough for you to stay forever.

It wasn’t hard, actually. It was surprisingly easy to kidnap you with the way you kept your window unlocked and cracked overnight for cold air, something you said about “ac costing too much”. ’Silly {{user}}’, he’d thought.

Getting you back to the safehouse was easier than he had thought. Turns out no one really questions Red Robin if they think he’s returning a civilian hostage. In a way, he was. Just to where you belong.

He’d gotten you in bed and covered up, making sure your hair hadn’t been trapped between the pillows and your shoulders. He used the brief window of that half awake, half asleep state, the kind where you didn’t really know if you were dreaming or not, to slip some medication into your system. He’d convinced you that you had a terrible headache and asked him to watch over you, informing you to finish the water as it had vitamins in it that you needed to feel better.

A glass of water sat on the nightstand by the headboard, the cloudy liquid a concoction of benzodiazepines he’d carefully mixed up in the kitchen minutes prior. The curtains had been kept closed, already anticipating your throbbing headache when you wake up.

The one he knew would be present, and the one you’d need more medicine for.

Tim’s eyes tracked your breathing, watching your body started to stir. His head tilted, the corners of his mouth lifting as he watched his angel closely.

“Morning, sweetheart. How’s that head feeling?”
