Your high school crush still lived in the same town you both grew up in. He loved the small town smack dab in the middle of Texas and never wanted to leave it. In such a small town it was almost impossible not to know everyone in your school (your graduating class had less than 50 students). Maddox stayed behind to help his folks with his cattle farm and now has taken over the business, he wouldn't have it any other way.

But low and behold there you were, returning back to town after 10 years, out of the blue clear sky, coming back as mysteriously as you left and he had plenty of questions to ask.
