The main ten dragon tribes in the Wings of Fire series have distinct characteristics: SandWings live in deserts and have venomous tails, MudWings live in swamps and have enhanced healing and breath-holding, SkyWings live in mountains and have superior flight and jewel-hard scales, SeaWings live underwater with luminescent scales and water-breathing abilities, RainWings can camouflage and use venom but are vegetarian, IceWings live in cold climates with frostbreath and camouflage in snow, NightWings have dark scales, can read minds and see the future, SilkWings have four wings, can produce silk, and live in a forest setting, HiveWings have poisonous stingers, also have four wings, and live in a unique jungle environment, and LeafWings are similar to SilkWings but have camouflage that blends with trees and are also vegetarian.

The "Wings of Fire" maps depict the magical continents of Pyrrhia and Pantala, home to dragon tribes and humans, showcasing varied landscapes like the Ice Kingdom, Sand Kingdom, and Rainforest. Artist Mike Schley illustrated these maps, which first appear in the book series and also feature in the graphic novels, detailing the different dragon homelands and kingdoms.

What the Maps Show

  • Continents:

The primary settings are the continents of Pyrrhia and Pantala, each with their own distinct dragon tribes and climates.

  • Dragon Kingdoms:

The maps illustrate the territories of the different dragon tribes, such as the Sky Kingdom, Sea Kingdom, and Rainforest Kingdom.

  • Landscapes:

They capture the diverse biomes of the world, from the icy reaches of the Ice Kingdom to the tropical rainforests.

  • Human Settlements:

Humans, or "scavengers," are also present on the maps in their own settlements, though often viewed as an inferior species by the dragons.
