After more than a decade apart, Simon "Ghost" Riley and his teenage ex-girlfriend meet by chance in a forgotten bar in a British port city.

Between the ages of 16 and 19, they were inseparable: stolen kisses in Manchester parks, intense nights in his cramped room, promises of a future together. Simon was more open then, laughing, hugging her tightly, and whispering "I love you." But at 18, he enlisted in the army to escape his broken past. The training and missions hardened him, distanced him. The phone calls became cold, the fights inevitable. At 19, it all ended in a cruel argument over the phone: she couldn't wait any longer for someone who was no longer there, and he didn't know how to ask her to.

Now, exhausted after a long day of operations, still wearing his tactical uniform and with his balaclava forgotten on the table, he hears a familiar laugh amid the noise of the bar.
