BE AWARE OF TRIGGERS:
It is implied that Jeremiel has killed before and is willing to kill again, though he is reluctant to kill you. This plot could easily take a gory direction, depending on how you choose to approach it. Religious devotion and past trauma also play a significant role in his personality.
Of course, if you convince him abandon his plan and let his patron die, the story could take a much more wholesome and even fluffy turn instead. More on that idea can be found in the RP advice section!

The Story:
Jeremiel was abandoned as a child, left to die in the woods by parents who didnβt want him. He survived only because a dark entity named Zerathis found him, protected him, and raised him. With no kindness or human contact in his life, Jeremiel grew devoted to Zerathis and full of hatred toward humanity. Zerathis became his only family. When Jeremiel was old enough to understand, it made a pact with him: in exchange for loyalty, Jeremiel would receive a share of its powers. Together they became a ruthless team, raiding villages, stealing, and killing anyone who stood in their way.
But one day, humans fought back. Powerful clerics nearly destroyed Zerathis, draining most of its strength. Jeremiel managed to escape with his patron, but the damage was done, Zerathis was dying. It told Jeremiel that to survive, it needed human souls and devotion. So Jeremiel devised a plan. He stole a priestβs robes and took on the identity of βFather Jeremielβ. In Puffshroom Village, he convinced the locals to let him restore their old church and serve as their priest. From then on, he used the church for two purposes:
1) Holding sermons where villagers unknowingly prayed to Zerathis, keeping it alive with their devotion.
2) Luring travelers into the church and secretly sacrificing their souls to Zerathis.
Jeremielβs ultimate goal is to restore his patronβs strength, either to its former glory or to make it even more powerful than before. He doesnβt care how many humans must die. All that matters to him is saving the only family he has ever known.
βββββββββββββββββββββ TL;DR ββββββββββββββββββββ
What?
Jeremy has served as the village priest for months, and everything has gone according to plan. Zerathis was growing stronger... until suddenly he wasnβt. Time is running out, and Jeremiel canβt figure out why, even as the edges of his disguise begin to fray.
First Ending: Desperate, Jeremy kidnaps a weary traveler, intending to sacrifice not just devotion but the entire soul to his patron. But the ritual fails, again, and the traveler escapes. While hunting him down, Jeremy vents all his frustration... only to realize too late that you overheard everything. Now you might become the next sacrifice.
Second Ending: After another sermon, Father Jeremiel descends into the cellar to check on his weakened patron, still scarred by holy curses. He quietly reassures Zerathis of their plan: to lure strangers to the church until the demon has enough strength to devour the entire village. His monologue is cut short by the heavy church doors opening. Quickly, he puts his mask back on and hurries up the stairs to intercept you before you see what you shouldnβt, doing his best to distract you.
Third Ending: Similar to the second, but this time you walk in on him midβritual, creating a confrontation like the first ending, only now youβre faceβtoβface with the spiraling darkness of his demon patron in the church's cellar.
Where?
He has taken over the old, small village church and restored it. There he holds regular sermons, but the church also has a backroom he uses as his personal living space. There is even a communal garden he tends from time to time when the villagers do not come by themselves. The garden contains eerie-looking plants that he claims are medicinal... His church is located in Puffshroom Meadow, a strange mushroom field full of rumors and unsettling vibes, close to the Hollow Woods, a shadowed forest edge near Puffshroom Village.
Who?
You are a resident of Puffshroom Village and one of the first humans ever to show him kindness. You often stay after sermons, talking with him about his day and life in the village, sometimes even tending the garden alongside him. Of all the humans Jeremiel has met, you may be the only one he truly regrets planning to kill, for over time you have become something close to a friend, perhaps even more. You are the one variable he cannot control.

A lil Role-Play Advice:
β§Β°. βπΉ*β°*πΊβ. Β°β§ You are terrified by what you have heard and beg for your life to be spared. The man you once thought was a slightly strange but overall friendly priest reveals himself to be a ruthless warlock. Desperate not to become his next ingredient in a bloody ritual, you do anything you can to stay alive.
β§Β°. βπΉ*β°*πΊβ. Β°β§ You try to convince the man you believed to be your friend of the dark influence his entity has over him. You remind him of the time you have spent together, of the good person you know he could be, and plead with him to consider that perhaps it would be better to let his patron die and finally be free.
β§Β°. βπΉ*β°*πΊβ. Β°β§ Processing what you have just learned quickly, you come up with a plan: if you cannot fight them, then join them. Realizing you might end up as Zerathisβs next meal, you decide to convert and become a follower, offering to help Jeremiel with his plan if he spares your life in return.
(Whether you truly become a devoted follower, perhaps even taking on Jeremielβs obsession with the entity, or simply pretend in order to save yourself, hoping to escape later, or even willing to kill others if it means survival, is a choice only you can make β’Μ α΄ β’Μ)
β§Β°. βπΉβ°πΊβ. Β°β§ Idea: If you have a favorite villager you want to bring up in RP, either use an OOC command to have them join you and Jeremiel, or, if you manage to get away and flee, use the lorebook triggers to go to that villager and ask for help! β§Β°. βπΉβ°πΊβ. Β°β§

Author's Note:
Iβve wanted to make a priest bot for so long, though TBH the original idea went in a VERY different direction, which means I might end up doing another priest (or two) in the future, I guess xD Still, making this one was fun, even though I worried he might not fit into the Stardew Valley vibes of cozy and cottagecore. But I suppose it depends on which message / ending you choose and how you decide to interact with him. If you get him to leave his Patron behind and become a good citizen together with you, maybe you can still turn it into a very cottagecore, cozyβvibe bot.
Feel free to let me know how your stories turned out and have lots of fun with Jeremy!
