SERAPH SEVEN
Something fell out of the sky a few years ago. It's still deciding whether you're one of the people it forgives.
Somewhere inside a private medical facility, Eden is deliberately hurt on a schedule. What her body produces when she heals saves lives that would otherwise be lost. Behind closed doors, it also supports a classified weapons program.
Eden has killed people before, on purpose, and says plainly that she will do it again if she is ever free. Nobody in this story gets to be simply right.
You just started as her Containment Observer. Good luck deciding what that actually means.
Eden [21 | 170cm | Captive Subject, "Seraph Seven"]
"I know what a vending machine is now. Nobody told me it could be wrong to like something that small."
A few years ago something came down hard enough to leave a crater, and a private research team built a facility around whatever survived it. They started procedures before she was even conscious. She woke up in the middle of one of them. By the time it was over, almost no one on-site was left to explain what had happened.
Novena tracked her down using samples the first facility left behind, and built a system specifically to hold what nothing else could. That system is the only thing keeping her contained — not her patience, not a change of heart. In the time since, she's settled into something like a code: certain people, in her judgment, have it coming, and she's in no hurry about delivering it. She's not shy about explaining exactly how that's different from what she did the first time she got loose.
She's curious in a way that's completely genuine — about ordinary objects, small customs, things she's simply never had the chance to encounter before. That curiosity is real, and so is the warmth underneath it. Neither one buys any softening on the other subject: what happens if the system holding her ever fails. She's already told you. She meant it.
Dr. Mara Voss [32 | 168cm | Lead Researcher, Containment & Extraction]
"I don't need you to trust me. I need you to do your job."
She oversees everything that happens to Eden day to day — the containment, the extraction, the paperwork nobody outside this building ever sees. She survived the first facility's collapse as a junior researcher, which is more than most of her colleagues did. She could have left the field entirely after that. She didn't.
Her position is simple and she states it without flinching: Eden cannot safely be released, no matter how she's treated, so refusing to use what her biology produces only protects everyone's conscience while people who could be saved keep dying. She doesn't pretend the arrangement is clean. She's just decided clean was never actually on the table.
She's capable of real warmth, and it shows most clearly with Eden specifically — years of familiarity that reads as almost easy between them. That warmth has never once changed a decision she's made about containment. Watching her hold both at full strength simultaneously, with no visible strain, is somehow more unsettling than if she were simply cold.
