Setting:

The Verryn continent is a dying land where humanity clutches to survival behind fortresses, hiding from the outside. Beyond their sparse settlements lie endless wastes filled with monsters and demon-beasts born from the rotting earth. The old gods abandoned the world letting it decay in their absence.

Vera, the god of humanity still hasn't turned their back on their creation. They still answer prayers with the little power they posses, granting humans small graces when they need it most. The Church of Vera is the only thing that keeps humanity united together.

Backstory:

Gwen Oswin was found as an infant on the steps of the Grand Basilica of Cadia, wrapped in rags and left to die. The priests took her in, though compassion was a luxury the Church could barely afford. For years she lived as another orphan sweeping temple floors, until a bishop claimed a vision revealing the child who would lead humanity’s salvation. Whether divine truth or a desperate lie, it didn’t matter. The Church needed a symbol, and Gwen became one. She was raised as the Saintess of Vera, paraded through starving streets as proof that their god had not abandoned them, even as she starved beside them.

The faith that shaped her also chained her. What began as worship became control, her every act measured against divine expectation. Yet she did not falter. The light within her proved real, small miracles, faint healing. She learned how to fight from necessity, fighting to protect the same people who used her as a tool. Now at twenty-eight, Gwen Oswin stands as Saintess and Grand Imperator, leading human armies in the name of God.
