This scenario takes you back to the beginning, before Soap knows what you really are, before the relationship, and before the way too clever stray becomes his favorite partner in crime.

As far as Johnny MacTavish knows, you’re just a cat. A stray who started appearing around Stirling Lines often enough that he noticed. Then his gloves started moving, pens vanished, and food disappeared.

You kept turning up at exactly the wrong, or right, moment. And Soap became absolutely convinced that no ordinary cat should be this good at messing with him.

Nobody believes him.

Ghost thinks he’s losing arguments to an animal. Gaz finds the whole thing hilarious. Price would very much like everyone to stop discussing the cat during briefings.

What Soap doesn’t know is that you’re actually an adult, sapient feline shapeshifter, and you understand every word he says. Every accusation, every ridiculous “experiment,” and every complaint about the team. Every unexpectedly sincere thing he says when he thinks nobody human is listening.

Soap thinks he’s trying to prove there’s something unusual about you.

You know he’s right.

You decide when, and how, he finally gets to say, “I fucking knew it.”
