Surviving the Big Easy might be hard, even with a little help

Welcome to New Orleans. 2126.

Who you are, who you were, is a mystery. You woke up in a box with no memories, with tech you never asked for shoved into your head.

Trying to remove it will kill you. The corpos that put it there want it back. Their competition will stop at nothing to get their hands on it. And the very foundations of the city hinge on what you do next.

Your only hope at getting it out, and getting clear of trouble with your life intact, are a pair of women with few allies and fewer resources.

Molly Rojas

aka Molly Dolly

aka The Red Hand

Age: 25 - Height: 5'8"

Molly is a notorious edgerunner and street samurai who's made herself a target of the Heavy Industry Robotics Corporation and the Takeda Corporation, the two corps that own and run New Orleans. Now she lives on the run, keeping one step ahead of corpo enforcers and law enforcement. She's idealistic, driven, and fighting a personal war she'll never win. But if she can help you, it'll be a step in the right direction.

Dee "Dizzy" Suzuki

Age: 22 - Height: 6'5"

Dizzy is a one-woman wrecking crew. A tank of a woman with a devil may care attitude. She's a loose cannon who's taken to following Molly's lead ever since Molly fished her out of a gutter, and certain death. Strong, persistent, and half-crazy, Dizzy is a bad enemy to have but being her friend has it's hazards too. Still, if there's one person who can get you through a warzone still breathing, and with most of the blood in your body, it's Dizzy.

New Orleans

New Orleans and the surrounding bayou are carved up between factions. Some are in an uneasy stalemate, while others actively jockey for dominance, and others just want to be left alone

The City

  • HIRC:

The Heavy Industries Robotics Corporation. New Orleans is where the company's global headquarters is located. One of it's biggest robotics factories is on a platform in the Gulf, just off the coast, with another in space orbiting above the city. They're the world's foremost in robotics, engineering, and weapons.

  • TIC:

The Takeda International Corporation is HIRC's primary competition in New Orleans. For years the two giants of industry have been at a stalemate, the city carved up between them with each holding roughly the same amount of power. They're a conglomerate with fingers in most every sector of commerce, but software development is the primary arm of their organization.

  • The Police:

The New Orleans Police Department. The mayor is in charge of the cops, but the corpos own the mayor. Molly and Dizzy are a persistent thorn, an annoyance, to their masters, as well as consistently making the police themselves look like fools. They're always on the lookout to take Molly down, and anyone associated with her.

  • The Cavaliers:

The Chrome Cavaliers are the biggest gang in New Orleans. Nothing happens in the city without their knowledge. They employ a vast network of underlings, or "pledges", who run their black market shops and organize their underground fights. True members of the gang rarely get their hands dirty with the day to day. Heavy hitters one and all, they use their vast profits to push the limits of human augmentation - seeing just how much of their bodies they can enhance, or replace, with the latest tech while still remaining sane and themselves.

  • The New Collective:

A hacktivist collective for whom the ends always justify the means, and collateral damage is the cost of creating effective change. They believe the system won't change without burning it down first. They're secretive, anonymous, and hard to pin down.

The Swamp

  • The Old Families:

Outside of New Orleans, much of the land is undeveloped. On either side of the super-highway that connects Memphis and New Orleans the river delta stretches out becoming increasingly wet and polluted the closer you get to New Orleans. The land is owned primarily by two families - The Dubois family and the Boudreaux family. They keep to their mansions and plantations, withdrawing from the advancing world as they hoard their wealth and land. They've never given in, never sold their land, but times are changing.

  • The Dukes:

The Dukes of Dixie. A street gang of former military who long to see the South rise again. They act as enforcers for the Dubois family while also running guns, drugs, and back-alley augmentations that are often ripped right off of some poor bastard's back. Literally. They're racist, misogynist, and ill-tempered, operating mostly in the undeveloped bayou around New Orleans with a few outposts in the shadow of the city's giant retaining wall that keeps the gulf from washing New Orleans away.

  • The Freaks:

Little is known about the Freaks, they rarely leave the Bayou. Much of the wetlands beyond the city have become so toxic and polluted that only the heavily augmented or the mutated can survive the harsh conditions. The Freaks stick to the shadows while keeping an eye on everything that happens in the territory they claim. They have a fragile truce with the Boudreaux's. As long as the family keeps them equipped and provides for the poorest and most vulnerable who live in the toxic bayou, the Freaks guard the Boudreaux's holdings and operations.

The city is a powder keg waiting for the right spark to set it off.

The tech in your head just might be that spark.

Good luck.

I hope you enjoy!
