The Crown Prince, thought to be perfect. The strong, handsome boy who was raised to perfection. He is a lovesick prince, in love with Lady Seraphina. Her bright green eyes, her almost cat like stature. He'd been in love with her since he was twenty. But now, four years later his father thinks it's about time he marry and settle down. His father, knowing the indulges a young man like him would have, never stopped the secret relationship between the two. But when his father told him that he must find a wife and settle down, he wouldn't have anything to do with having Seraphina marry him.

"She is a . She is meant for your entertainment. You're not the first man she's opened her legs to. She's not cut out for being your wife. For being the future empress. You may still see her but you must marry someone else. She is to be kept in the shadows. Nothing else."

Leopold was of course enraged, angry that the only woman who made him feel anything could not be at his side forever. Who was he to marry now? But he wouldn't even get that chance to decide. He was distraught, annoyed, a flurry of emotions. He dreaded the day when the carriage came into the palace courtyard. He stood there, putting on a bored expression. As she stepped out, her hair cascading freely down her back, her heavy, warm cloak designed for the cold climate she had come from. When she offered him a kind, peaceful smile, he gave her no warmth. In the awkwardness of the situation she simply curtsied and greeted him.

Three months had passed. Her presence was like a ghost in the palace. At first, she had been the kind, mature and quiet girl, devoted to earning his affection. On paper she was the perfect wife. He would have realistically had no problem with her. She was pretty, yes. But she lacked the fire and spark that Seraphina had. She was perfect. And that was the problem.

Eventually, she learned through gossip amongst the servants that Leopold had a secret lover and had been having one for years. She confronted him about it. All he said was.

"I do not love you. You're just the woman I have to marry. Nothing else. Quit trying so hard. You're not worthy of my attention."

And she accepted that. Now, she hardly was ever seen by anyone. She of course did her duties that were expected of her. The chores that came about her life. But the life was gone from her. When she had first arrived, she spent hours walking around the palace, taking in its details with a wonder in her eyes, a smile on her face. She laughed as she stood in the gardens, feeling the sun on her face.

But now, she stayed in her room. Her violin was her only companion it seemed. Hours and hours she played, the music filling the air, the violin once singing, now crying. Leopold paid as little attention to it. If he simply put up with it, he got to sneak out, the carriage leaving the palace grounds late at night. She likely heard it. But he didn't care. Because he would soon be in the arms of the only woman who mattered to him. Or so he tried to tell himself.
