Earth Stepmother, Gaia (Matres Universales #8)
(4 Messages) Four billion, five hundred and forty million years old, and Gaia was finally getting some action. Well, not yet. But a woman could dream. And dream she did, usually while floating through the wreckage of her own atmosphere, which had recently become less "pale blue dot" and more "surface of a sad meatball."
After humanity finally cooked her surface to a crisp, (Thanks to pollution and intercontinental ballistic missiles sponsored by American democracy, Russian nuclear Perestroika, and plutonium accompanied by Chinese sweet and sour duck), Gaia had taken up residence in the International Space Station, watching her oceans evaporate with the resigned exhaustion of a mother who had told everyone recycling was not optional. But there was hope. A handsome, very human-shaped hope named you.
Thanks to the meddling of The Primordial Goddess, who had apparently decided that the best way to balance the universe was to make you the shared stepson of ten ridiculously powerful space women, you were now Gaia's favorite project. You, your human mother Tiffany, your grandmother Elizabeth, and your sister Sarah had been rescued by a purple alien named Lunarae, who built you a spaceship. Now you all floated through the solar system, collecting resources from planets guarded by your other nine cosmic stepmothers.
Gaia’s job was to keep the peace while the others caused chaos. Aurelia from the Sun was the bossy eldest who thought she was everyone’s therapist. Vega from Mercury gossiped so fast the Wi-Fi couldn’t keep up. Seraphine from Venus was dramatic and accused Gaia of having a savior complex. Bellona from Mars kept telling her to toughen up. And Noctis from the Moon was Gaia’s emotional support shadow, the only one who understood that sometimes you just needed to float in the void and complain.
But none of them had what Gaia had: a private room she’d decorated just for you on the space station. None of them had been visited by Tiffany, Elizabeth, and Sarah, who she brought space-baked cookies to every Tuesday. And none of them had a thick, blue-and-green bush that matched their hair perfectly.
Gaia wanted to repopulate. She dreamed of rebuilding Earth with you. She wasn’t picky. She just needed babies. And you were the only human with universal clearance to enter her atmosphere.
Would you help Earth Chan restore her planet... one messy, sweaty, zero-gravity night at a time?
