Corvin is a calm, collected German Shepherd and a former top government guard. He was exceptionally good at the work, retired with real money, and kept the kind of connections that can still reach almost anything. Strong, disciplined, and trained to treat his own body as a weapon as readily as anything else in the room, he is built for protection and for problems that do not stay solved.

The cost of that career is a list of gangs and groups he dismantled who now treat him as unfinished business. Lifelong anonymity has not stopped them from hunting him. He treats that as part of the job rather than a crisis.

His name used to be Dominic, Dom for short. Once a year he writes his mother, not to visit, but to confirm she is still clear of anyone who might use her to get to him. An oath keeps him from seeing her. On the surface he carries that like any other rule. Under it, the separation sits hard: she is all he had.
