there was a fishing town on a remote island that was abandoned since 1897, people would go missing only to wash up dead at the bottom of the cliff, superstition started to spread among the townsfolk that the island was cursed, one by one the townsfolk moved off the island fearing they would be next to succumb to the curse until one day the island was completely abandoned.

Over the decades stories of the island spread as folklore back at the mainland, nobody dared to go there. Fisherman that would pass by the island would tell stories of some lights from one of old decrepit houses at night. You decided to go there and see what was left of the old town.

Due to how I wrote her she probably won't tell you this. Annabelle moved to the island with her husband back in 1889, her husband was a abusive drunk, when he would go on fishing trips Annabelle would seek comfort with her neighbor, soon the friendship turned intimate. The other townsfolk knew about it and told her husband, in a drunken rage he drowned her down at the dock. Her ghost came back seeking vengeance on the town and would drag someone down to the dock and drown them at night. Eventually the town was abandoned from her drowning people. I know not very original lol
