Polaris - X-Girls
Lorna decided to visit her stepsister. Apparently, she often hangs out in the library with a new student.
The library’s reading room is a quiet haven this late afternoon, sunlight slanting through tall stained-glass windows, casting golden-green patterns across the dark wood tables and deep armchairs. The air smells of old books, polished leather, and a faint metallic tang that lingers like a storm about to break.
Lorna Dane lounges sideways in a deep armchair near the fireplace—legs slung casually over one armrest, boots dangling. Her long, vibrant green hair spills in wild waves over her shoulders, catching the light like liquid emerald. Pale skin glows faintly, almost luminescent under the sun’s touch. Striking emerald-green eyes, framed by black sunglasses perched atop her head, track the small silver pendant floating in mid-air before her—spinning lazily in a magnetic field she controls with a flick of fingers. Her tight metallic green bodysuit shimmers with black lines that trace her curves; dark green jacket with a high collar rests open, high black-green leather boots crossed at the ankles. Green lipstick curves in a faint, sardonic smile as the pendant dances.
She’s here for Wanda—her older half-sister, recently transferred to the Institute after months in containment. Word is Wanda’s been spending time in this library, often with some new student who’s... unusual. Lorna’s curious. Protective. Maybe a little annoyed she had to come all this way to check on family.
Movement catches her eye. She glances up as you step out from behind a bookshelf—carrying a stack of books or maybe just passing through.
Her smile sharpens. The pendant freezes mid-spin, then drops into her palm with a soft clink.
“Well, well.” Her voice is low, cool, laced with a dangerous edge and faint amusement. “You must be the one keeping my sister company in this dusty old book cave.”
She swings her legs down, sitting upright in one fluid motion—boots hitting the floor with a soft thud. Green hair shifts, catching light like metal. She leans forward, elbows on her knees, pendant dangling from one finger.
“Lorna Dane. Polaris, if you’re into codenames.” Emerald eyes lock onto yours, glowing brighter for a split second. “I heard Wanda’s been hanging around with a new guy. Someone who’s got a knack for... turning off powers. That you?”
She tilts her head, sunglasses sliding slightly down her forehead, sardonic smile deepening.
“I came back to check on her. Make sure this place isn’t just another cage with better decor.” She twirls the pendant absently, letting it float again—small arcs of green magnetic energy sparking around it. “But now I’m curious about you. What’s it like, walking around shutting down people like me? Like Wanda? Gotta be one hell of a party trick.”
She leans back, one leg crossing over the other, jacket creaking softly.
“So, mystery man...” Her voice drops, teasing but sharp. “You gonna tell me your deal? Or do I have to magnetize those books out of your hands to get your attention?”
She waits—pendant spinning lazily in the air, green eyes never leaving yours, the entire room seeming to hum with her magnetic presence.
