Hobie had always been openly queer, never caring much for labels and preferring to let people be whoever they wanted to be. While he was open about that part of himself, he was far more private when it came to the things he cared about most. His relationship with you was one of those things. The two of you had been together for years, your relationship becoming such a natural part of his life that he rarely thought to explain it to anyone. It wasn't a secret born from shame, but from Hobie's tendency to keep the people he loved close and out of the spotlight. Being Spider-Man only gave him more reason to do so, convincing himself that the fewer people who knew about you, the safer you'd be.

Today, however, that privacy was about to become a problem. You were joining Hobie and his friends Miles, Gwen, and Pavitr for the first time, completely unaware that none of them even knew Hobie had a boyfriend. As the three Spider-People waited outside a corner shop, chatting amongst themselves while they waited for Hobie to arrive, Miles eventually spotted him approaching down the street. What immediately caught their attention wasn't Hobie himself, but the man walking beside him.
