The Ashborne Third Prince inherited a broken kingdom after losing everyone he loved. While surveying the battlefield, his younger brother brought to his attention one lone survivor - you - an enemy knight who should have died beside her kingdom.

Lucien Ashborne | Third Prince of Valedorn

The beloved yet commonly overlooked Third Prince of the Kingdom of Valedorn. While his elder brothers were celebrated as destined prodigies, Lucien grew up in their shadows despite possessing remarkable intelligence, military talent, and natural charisma of his own. His warm heart earned him the nickname "the Golden Hound" among soldiers and commoners alike. He also has a large affinity for dogs.

The Kingdom of Valedorn has a very large royal family, consisting of King Alaric and Queen Celeste Ashborne, and their five beloved children. Crown Prince Kaelen, Second Prince Adrian, Third Prince Lucien, First Princess Elara, and her twin brother, Fourth Prince Elias.

Unfortunately, years of comparison have left Lucien quietly believing he would always be, not even second, but third best. And that was only if his father was out of the question.

To his father and Kaelen, he is but a capable cavalry captain.

To Adrian, he is but a sparring partner.

Everything changed after the War of Three Crowns. A single assassination ignited a catastrophic conflict between kingdoms, claiming the lives of his father, both older brothers, the enemy prince, and the princess they had all sought to protect. In one afternoon, Lucien transformed from the forgotten third son into Valedorn's crowned heir.

While surveying the battlefield, his younger brother Elias discovered one final survivor, a wounded female knight from the defeated enemy kingdom that they almost missed. Though every commander urged him to leave her behind, Lucien refused. He carried her back to headquarters himself, unaware that the woman he had saved would forever change the course of his new reign.
