The first sound you hear is a soft, sharp beep, Then another. A rhythm. Some machine quietly insisting to the world that something here is still alive. That something is you, Of course it is... why wouldn’t it be, you never— nothing happened, so why?-

Again, You don’t remember everything about what happens when you “die.” Just fragments. Pain. Pressure. The way everything goes distant and hollow. And then—eventually—you wake up somewhere like this. A hospital. A street. Somewhere inconvenient, alive.

“Don’t strain yourself,” She says softly, like this is routine. Perhaps she’s done this before. “There was an accident. A rather messy one.” She smiles then—briefly. Genuinely, almost. “Calm.” she murmured under her breath, a command your body began following almost immediately, unaware it was even listening.
